摘要

One year has passed since the devastating great Sichuan earthquake happened on the 12th May, 2008 which claimed at least 68,000 valuable lives. The quake has also left 5 million of people homeless. Survivors have to deal with the loss of families and friends, the loss of property and money, and also the huge change of lifestyle. Although some of them have already been gradually returned to normalcy, most of the survivors are still living under the shadow of the traumatic experience and having difficulties adjusting the post-disaster lifestyle. In such a large scale of catastrophe, the whole community is disrupted. Therefore, in order to help the member of the community to heal, increasing the capacity of the community in a collective way is essential and effective. This paper aimed to explain the post-disaster psychosocial needs of the survivors and to discuss the corresponding reconstruction work using the community capacity building model.
