PTFE Wires and Cables are difficult to mark with traditional continuous inkjet inks. New inkjet inks were formulated that show better adhesion on PTFE. These inks were compared to the traditional gravure inks used in this application as well as a typical continuous inkjet ink. After PTFE was marked with these inks, it was heated above its sintering point for controlled periods of time. The marks were then tested with a tape test and MIL-W-227598E. The newly formulated inkjet inks show adhesion that is comparable to the traditional gravure inks. PTFE inkjet marking at room temperature, however, is still not possible.
