In this paper we investigate the connection loss of bend insensitive multimode fibers. We characterize the impact of leaky modes on the connector loss for both short (2 meter) jumpers as well as long (300 meter jumpers. Matching the measured numerical aperture and core size of the longer jumpers for the multimode fibers investigated appears to provide the best connectivity results. A measurement methodology to match these parameters for bend-insensitive multimode fibers is proposed.
