We developed an inspection tool for cleaved fiber ends andrnconnector end surfaces. The main components of the fabricatedrntool are a microscope, cell phone, and special holders for the fiberrnor connector being inspected. The tool does not require focalrnadjustment. It can be used to inspect and clearly distinguishrnwhether a fiber has been cleaved correctly and whether there isrncontamination or scratches on the connector end surfaces. Ourrntool provides a simple and cost-effective way to inspect cleavedrnfiber ends and connector end surfaces in the field.
