摘要

An analytical instrumentation package for the measurement of energy content of coke oven gas has been successfully field tested. This system also is applicable to natural gas and synthetic fuel gas. The package includes a microprocessor based Process Gas Chromatograph with special computation software to provide BTU, Specific Gravity and Wobbe Index. Alternatively, energy content can be calculated in kilojoules-per-kilogram or any other desired unit of energy content. Calculations are based on compositional analysis of all components from hydrogen to C_4-and-heavier fraction.rnAlso included is linearization of the hydrogen measurement, automatic self-calibration and additional memory to store data and provide 24-hour average of BTU, Specific Gravity and Wobbe Index.rnA second analyzer can be added to provide measurement of trace sulfur compounds. The calculation package permits outputting the total sulfur content as equivalent H_2S with 24-hour averaging also included.rnSeveral calibration methods are included, with a comparison of calibration with standards vs. use of Relative Relative Response Factors without calibration standards. Internal Normalization is used to obtain increased precision and repeatability. Test data indicates a precision of better then 0.5 BTU.
