In this paper, we give the analysis for a friction interference fit bolt using the Finite Element Method. Considering the contact character of bolt and nut, we adopt the measure of local coordinate transformation. In view of the fact that the friction existing between the bolt and the nut is not independent (the friction depends on normal pressure), we adopt the technique that is partitioning the stiffness matrixes of the bolt and the nut into submatrices. The paper gives satisfactory results.
