摘要

Epoxy-based carbon fiber composites (CFC) are rapidly gaining broad acceptance in aeronautics applications,including structural parts,because of the weight they provide.Resin Transfer Molding (RTM) is an attractive processing technique for such applications because it allows for complex shapes and dimensional accuracy.Epoxy CFC suffers from toughness issues,which can be alleviated by the addition of thermoplastic tougheners.Due to resin viscosity limitations imposed by RTM,toughening of composite matrices by addition of high molecular weight thermoplastic can only be contemplated via in situ dissolution of the thermoplastic introduced in the composite preform.
