摘要

We examined damage and fracture in the radial direction in such a way that we might measure different energy dissipation rates. Using acoustic emission monitoring, our results indicate that the greatest AE energy is released during the initial stages of crack growth. This would indicate a higher proportion of unstable microfracture at the early stages compared with intermediate stages. This result can partially be explained by the relationship between the crack front and the specific microstructural features existing at the crack front.
