A chimera Reynolds-Averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) method wasrncoupled with a propeller analysis program to provide accuraternresolution of the propeller-ship interactions. Calculations werernperformed for a Series-60 ship with the MAU propeller under variousrnoperating conditions. In the present interactive coupling approach;;thernpropeller thrust and torque were represented by body-forces and addedrnto the source functions of the RANS code to account for the propellerinducedrneffects. The propeller analysis program was then used torndetermine the new propeller blade loading distributions with thernpropeller inflow provided by the RANS solution. Several interactiverncoupling between the RANS and propeller analysis programs werernperformed to capture the propeller-ship interactions under variousrnpropeller operations including ahead;;backing;;crash-astern;;and turningrnconditions.
