In Korea, the speed-up of conventional rail lines is one of the main issues sincernhigh-speed trains have been developed. It is a fact that the straightening of trackrnalignment is one of the undoubted ways to improve the train speed on conventionalrnlines, while that requires huge investment resources. Therefore, the operation of arnhigh-speed train as well as the minimum improvement of track has been suggestedrnas an effective and economical alternative way for the speed-up of conventionalrnlines. In this study, the roadbed performance (roadbed pressure and settlement)rninduced by the high-speed train was numerically evaluated in order to make sure itsrnoperation safety on the conventional line. As a result of this study, the high-speedrntrain which will be operated in combination with existing trains is expected to givernno adverse impact on the conventional line even with its improved running speed.
