A Study on Wave Transmission Coefficients of Plate-type Breakwater

Linear and nonlinear numerical simulations show that submergedrnhorizontal plate-type breakwater has good wave dissipation functionrnand can be used as one kind of efficient wave protection facility in deeprnsea. Because some problem such as wave breaking can not be treatedrnnumerically, the results of mathematical models can not be directlyrnapplied to actual engineering construction. As a complement ofrnnumerical calculation, a set of systematic model tests were carried out.rnThe experimental models are consisting of basic and multi-type styles.rnThe wave transmission coefficients are mainly discussed in this paper,rnwhich are supposed to be controlled by two non-dimensionalrnparameters: ratio of wave height to plate submergence (2η_rnI/d) and ratiornof wavelength to plate length (L/B). In which, η_rnI is incident wavernamplitude; d is plate submergence; L is wavelength and B is platernlength. The investigation shows that if choosing reasonable 2 η_rnI/d andrnL/B, wave dissipation function of basic model is very effective andrnwave transmission coefficients of multi-type model can be controlledrnless than 20%.
