The 3D and bistatic SAR parametric scattering models of canonical scatterers are approximated as the product of azimuthal and elevational 2D scattering models based on analyzing the scattering mechanisms of canonical scatterers in the 3D and bistatic case. After deriving relationship of the angles, the azimuthal and elevational 2D scattering models are substituted by the fundamental planar scattering models approximately. The good performance of the 3D and bistatic SAR scattering models are validated by the comparisons with the high-frequency, asymptotic scattering simulations generated by FEldberechnung bei KÖrpern mit beliebiger Oberfläche (FEKO).
