Investigation on the Regeneration of Hydrogen Storage Alloy for Spent Nickel/Metal Hydride Batteries

Hydrogen storage alloy for spent Nickel/metal hydride battery was recovered by acid-treatment and ball-milling. The cyclic voltammograms showed that the acid treatment and ball milling is practical to improve electrochemical performance of spent hydrogen storage alloy powder. The oxidation peak potential of alloy shift more negative direction and the oxidation peak current increase obviously. Hydrogen storage capacity was increased and reversibility of the alloy powder was improved, thus regeneration of spent hydrogen storage alloy powder was realized.
