摘要

Metal contaminants in soil pose a significant risk to the wider environment, including soil and water quality and human health. Speciation influences solubility, transport, bioavailability, toxicity and consequently environmental fate of metal contaminants in soils, however, there is no general consensus on how speciation and bioavailability can be best measured. This has resulted in a plethora of soil tests. This paper presents an overview of the currently used soil and analytical methodologies for measuring metal contaminants speciation, bioavailability, their relevance, and challenges to the development of a reliable risk assessment framework.
