The use of waterborne UV polyurethane acrylates (UV PUDs) has been growing in the areas of wood and resilient flooring, and automotive markets in Europe. The end use performance characteristics of UV PUDs have spurred new interest in the United States, With an ever increasing awareness and concern for the environment, reducing costs and enhancing product performance, there is increasing interest in the performance characteristics of waterborne/ water dispersed UV cured products as they compare to 100% solids UV products. In this study, we present data that compares UCB's waterborne/ water dispersed UV curable aliphatic polyurethane acrylates with 100% solids UV curable urethane aery/ate products (including aliphatic and aromatic backbones). The scope of the paper is to discuss the similarities and differences of select UV PUDs and 100% UV oligomers based upon results of a variety of screening application tests.
