Meteor, the new line 14 of the Paris Metro with driverless trains was designed to meet three objectives:rn1) to lighten passenger traffic on the "Gare de Lyon-Auber" section of RER line A;rn2) to ensure a transport service to the new business areas of the "Pare de Bercy" and "Seine Rive Gauche" in the 12th and 13th district respectively, and to improve service to the 13th district, one of the most heavily populated districts of the city;rn3) to use leading edge technologies to ensure a quality of service which is compatible with transport demands of the 21st century, particularly in terms of safety, adaptability and flexibility, all of which led to the choice of fully automatic driving.
