摘要

The Dugway West Interceptor Relief Sewer Project is a combined sewer overflow (CSO)rncontrol project being built for the Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District in a dense,rnurban Cleveland, Ohio residential neighborhood. The project includes 7,000 linear feetrnof 72-inch diameter relief sewer installed using a microtunnel boring machine (MTBM)rnthrough soft ground conditions. Design challenges included providing hydraulic reliefrnpoints for the system, optimizing shaft hydraulics, and balancing constructability andrnalignment needs against potential neighborhood impacts. Contractor is a joint venturernof Walsh Construction and Super Excavators. Construction aspects have includedrnutilities prevalent in project areas, new connections to a large stormwater box culvert,rnsecant shafts for temporary earth support systems, microtunneling system work area,rncontract constraint changes, and a Contractor-proposed curved microtunnel segment.
