Herein,we introduced a simple hydrothermal method to prepare flower-like CdS nanostructures with thiourea as sulfur source. The obtained materials were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and selected area electron diffraction (SAED). The results indica ted that CdS nanostructures were of hexagonal phase and single crystalline in nature.Meanwhile,we examined its optical properties by ul traviolet-vis (UV-vis) and photoluminescence (PL) spectra and photocatalytic property using methylene blue (MB) as a model organic compound.It was found that as-prepared CdS nanostructures exhibited a high photocatalytic activity for decolorization of MB under UV-light illumination.Finally,the formation mechanism of flower-like structure was also discussed.It was believed that the internal structure and sulfur mass transport controlled by thiourea played a critical role in the formation of flower-like CdS nanostructures.
