摘要

Consumption is the true force of sustained economic growth, especially under market economy. Resident consumption can affect the development and the growth rate of economy. Therefore, study on resident consumption, total consumption amount, and urban resident consumption which accounts for a larger proportion are practically significant. Under the economic growth mechanism, this paper examines how consumption changes may affect economic growth. Based on data of urban resident in Hebei Province, using structural, regression, growth rate and pulling power analysis, this paper empirically examines urban resident consumption level, structure, characteristics and trends. The main empirical results are urban resident consumption level increases largely; various consumption expenditures also increase greatly. However, the basic material expenditure of living is still dominant. Although the development and enjoyment consumption grow fast, but its share is still relatively low. The binding constraint of economic growth in Hebei Province has been changed to the market demand. Consumption scale, growth and structural changes are the main factors affecting economic growth. Currently the major factor constraining the consumption growth of urban residents in Hebei Province is low income level, high savings and declining consumption tendency. Finally, we suggest countermeasures and proposals aiming at expanding the consumption of residents and expanding domestic demands so as to promote economic growth in Hebei Province.
