摘要

In each country, because of their culture, tradition, economic or legal influences, retail trade has its own configuration. Another factor that caused the restructuring of trade in former socialist countries of Southeast Europe, of which some are today members of the European Union (as Romania in January 2007), it was really the good distribution that shifted decisively the community policies to meet better current requirements, but also to harness the opportunities of sustainable development. Foreign direct investment has a crucial role in restructuring and rebuilding the Romanian economy. Western firms will put pressure over the Romanian companies that will be forced to innovate in marketing and management, in this way to create and sustain competitive advantages. On the other side the foreign direct investment leads to.increased production and quality products to international standards performance; multinational companies can use their already formed connections to import and export goods to/from Romania, in this way they are increasing the attractiveness and participation of the Romanian economy to international trade flows of goods.rnOur work represents an analysis of the Romanian retail sector before and after Romania joins at the European Union. It wish to highlight the contribution of foreign direct investment in the development and modernization of this economy sector of Romania on a continuously ascending trend that led to the emergence of the new typology of stores that characterize today Romanian retail and the sharpening competition on vertical which have changed the Romanian retail sector 's architacture that will make the business distribution more dynamic and prosper.
