Mechanical seal failure on centrifugal pumps is a not uncommon occurrence.Measurement of the failure statistics in a routine way to provide management information is much rarer.On a site of over 1500 pumps the cost of maintaining them is of obvious significance.Original failure reports were revised to include factors on both pump and seal.The use of a tick box input sheet enables data to be upt into a database.From this both standard and special repots can be generated.In vertory and fluid data can also be incorporated to enable more detailed surveys to be done.
