Steel fibre reinforced concrete (SFRC) is a technology that has been known for several years and is recently becoming a topic of remarkable technical-scientific interest due to the improvement of the mechanical properties of concrete structures, where traditional transverse steel bars are replaced by the steel fibres themselves. However, common steel fibres are subjected to corrosion phenomena when concrete products are exposed to environments containing aggressive agents such as chlorides. These corrosion phenomena usually involve a surface layer important for the durability of concrete products and above all for aesthetic problems because brown rust appears externally. To reduce these problems, galvanized steel fibres can be used in place of the common steel fibres, but their interaction with the concrete could lead to an increase in the dimensions of structures due to concrete swelling. The interaction of galvanized steel fibres in concrete in several experimental conditions is the subject of this paper and the outlined conclusions are useful to explain this phenomenon.
