Brazil is crossed by the geomagnetic equator and it is an appropriate site to study of effects like solar storms on the IEA. The IEA is characterized by high values of TEC that implies in time delays greater than the ones typically of regions outside it. Large ionospheric gradients, as the ones present in the IEA, cause refraction effects on the rays greater than the ones presented at regions far from the IEA. Those effects can result in convergence or divergence producing focusing or spreading in the GPS signal power. In order to do studies on the VTEC over Brazil, it was analyzed data obtained from stations of the "Rede Brasileira de Monitoramento Continuo" [Brazilian's Continuously Monitoring Network] (RBMC) in RINEX (Receiver Independent Exchange) format. Programs were developed to simulate the Klobuchar model and then to compute the time delay correction. With RINEX data, using the pseudorange, the VTEC can be estimated. Analyzing the RINEX files through all the seasons of the year and mainly in the period of major solar activity, it is possible to establish the relation between the amount of error corrected by the Klobuchar model and the amount of error that effectively should be corrected in the geomagnetic equator region.
