Reducing carbon dioxide emission is one of the most critical energy issues for construction offuture energy systems. The hydrogen energy system is widely considered to be one of themost promising systems in the future for solving such an environmental problem.Japanese Government has already decided the introduction targets of fuel cell vehicles(FCVs), 50 thousand and 5 million vehicles in 2010 and 2020, respectively and currentlystudy is underway for expanding the timeframe to 2030 and for setting the introduction targetof FCVs in 2030.We propose a target value, 15 million FCVs, for 2030 and made a tentative strategic scenarioof the infrastructure construction for achieving the Government's and our proposedintroduction targets of FCVs.
