Supply Chain gradual expansion has developed its own risk. Single disruption at any element or flow, will eventually affect the whole system. At current, raising awareness on SC disruption events is widely being observed. Many have shown concern on the significance of reliable system which could identify risk prior to the event, assess the impact of risk events and its consequences, while still being able to control and manage the risk throughout the whole SC. However, risk issue is still not a major concern in SC performance measure. This is possibly due to lacking of detailed and specific measurement tools for systematically identifying and evaluating SC risks. In this study, reviews conducted on relevant journals have piloted us to identify significant components in developing supply chain risk analysis models i.e., risk identification, estimation and evaluation. We explore each component and highlight the respective requirements. Acknowledging the well-developed risk analysis methods in Reliability and Safety field, we consider the possibility of adopting the same approaches into Supply Chain Risk Management. Therefore we evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of several risk analysis methods applied in Reliability and Safety field for example CAED, FMEA, ETA, FTA, HAZOP and AHP. Finally, we analyze the similarities and gaps between the two fields with the aim to propose a methodology that is most suitable for supply chain risk analysis.
