In this study we model the impact of a heat source on the thermo-hydraulic behaviour of a system composed of a clay engineered barrier and a host rock, namely, an argilite. We first discuss the numerical problems related to the modeled system. The results achieved suggest that the saturat on phenomenon is accelerated by the temperature increase. Nevertheless errors in hydraulic parameters estimation could have a comparable, or even stronger, opposite effect. The resaturation kinetic and the gas pressure are not significantly affected by the heat power. Nevertheless presence of vapour near the source at early times could be important with respect to the corrosion of the canister problem. Indeed, vapour is more corrosive than liquid water.
