This paper presents a knowledge managing initiative in a high-technology company. The main goal of the knowledge initiative was to improve knowledge managing within and between software projects. The project used two common approaches to knowledge managing―codification and networking. Based on the case, a number of lessons and conclusions are drawn and discussed, for example, how to strike a balance between explorative and exploitative knowledge managing, how to manage knowledge in turbulent environments, and how to manage knowledge strategically.
