摘要

For transmission over IP networks, speech must be encoded at the sending end and subsequently decoded at the receiving end. In this encoding-decoding process, some speech information has to be removed and it is natural that the performance of speech recognition systems will deterionate when the coded speech is applied as input to a recognition system. This paper reports an evaluation of G.723.1, one of the speech coders for IP telephone through continuous word recognition on a Japanese speech corpus. Experimental results show that the recognition performance of G.723.1 coded speech is degraded compared to no coded speech. In this paper, we investigate these results.
