摘要

The fractal theory enables to characterize, describe and quantify the roughness of the profile of single particles or agglomerates. In this paper the problems involved with the definition of properly designed numerical algorithms to operate a morphological characterization based on the fractal approach are discussed. All the procedures are developed and implemented taking into account the possibility to run the programs on a low level and general purpose computer such as a standard PC. A critical comparison of the results obtained using the different computational approaches is reported. The advantages and the limits of this method are indicated, both as regards performance of investigations and subsequent processing of the results.
