Series of field experiments were conducted during 1997 and 1998 rice growing seasons to study the productivity of eleven rice genotypes compared to their parental accessories Giza 180 and Giza 172 and the most recommended two rice cultivars Giza 176 and Giza 171 as affected by three irrigation intervals, (4, 6 and 8 days). Grain yield had the greater reduction among all studied traits while, 1000-grain weight appeared to be less sensitive to water deficit. Grains per panicle followed by panicles per plant were the more sensitive traits under water stress conditions. The highest yielding mutant line 79-7-172 had the greatest number of grains per panicle under different irrigation treatments.
