Turbine blade is one of the most critical components of a turbine unit. Periodic inspection of in-situ blade cracking is necessary to improve reliability of a turbine. Due to the complex geometry of the blade root, the result of ultrasonic inspection of the blade is not easily evaluated. The purpose of this paper is to provide utilities with a better understanding of root attachment cracking of a blade and lead to improve reliability of a blade. The cracking analysis is performed using stress analysis, fatigue cracking test, and fracture analysis.
