Innovation is providing many new opportunities, as well as serious challenges, to nonwovens producers and users. Factors influencing these trends, as well as some of the major trends in new raw materials, in modified process and new equipment developments have been identified. Several of the opportunities in different fields are provided as examples of the need for ongoing and future innovative solutions to accommodate these trends. Successful companies will be those who can quickly react to these very different trends and contribute in this next industrial revolution, which has been brought about by the tremendous interaction and impact of the computer, the internet, nanotechnogy and biotechnology. Market forces, greenery and innovation are shaping the future of the nonwovens industry.
