Computer systems are required to be ever more reliable and, at the same time, less complex to maintain. Improved reliability, availability and failure avoidance are becoming major differentiators in the arena of high-performance computer systems. High reliability of computer systems is achieved not only by hardware redundancy but also by adding software intelligence that models the behavior of the system and detects any abnormal deviations from known or expected and assists a system administrator in the decision making process during critical situations. In this paper we present a software intelligence framework for supporting decisions made by a system administrator for prevention of failures in complex computer systems executing business or scientific applications.
