Prior 2001, the overall potential as well as the viability of thernlong-term development of the Lower Burgan Sandstonernreservoir in Sabiriyah field (SA LB) in North Kuwait werernsomewhat uncertain. This was mainly due to two factors; wetrncrude handling limited capacity (given that over 70% of thernproducers were wet) and the fact that the reservoir producedrnabout 65% of its reserves. Additional penetrations into thisrnmature reservoir out side its 1998 foot print (throughrndeepening other reservoirs’ new wells to SA LB), havernresulted in extending SA LB reservoir both areally andrnvertically indicating new development frontiers and promisingrna significantly increased reservoir potential.rnAt that time, a multi-disciplinary team was formed to evaluaternthe reservoir. Better understanding of the reservoir geology,rnrock and fluid description, and well’s performance providedrnthe frame to make effective changes in terms of managementrnas well as development options of this high oil APIaturallyrnpressure supported reservoir.rnThe well-integrated SA LB team (four to five members)rncomprises petroleum engineers, geologists, and reservoirrnengineers, with petrophysical and geophysical support. Therngreat efficiency of the teamwork method was combined withrnan excellent atmosphere of communication and collaborationrnwith the operational and service company’s personnel. Thernnew teamworking environment has yielded significant benefitrnin resource and technology utilization.rnThe previous organization approach often compromised SArnLB production/potential through focusing on the other waterrnflooded reservoirs and treated it as a swing producer. Itrnsuffered from the absence of a proper definition of thernreservoir before commitment of non-representive developmentrnplan as a swing producer with no infill opportunities.rnThis paper demonstrates and emphasizes the importance ofrndeveloping an accurate reservoir description, realistic/flexiblerndevelopment plan, and comprehensive management throughrnthe joint efforts of the geologists and engineers.
