摘要

Results demonstrated that valvetrain friction can be reduced significantly by surface texturing, improved finishing, and thin film coatings. The friction reduction observed by parallel-line v-groove, polishing, and diamond-like carbon coating was similar and these are significantly better than others investigated. The choice of any particular surface treatment would depend on easy of manufacturability, cycle time, and cost.
