摘要

MQL application of novel MoS_2 nanoparticles based machining fluid improves grinding performance, with a significant reduction in grinding forces and wear, by decreasing friction between the wear flats and the workpiece. The objective of this research is to understand the role of these nanoparticles in enhancing the machining performance through systematic tribological testing under approximately simulated machining conditions. Nano-engineered MoS_2 based fluids were introduced in linear abrasive pin on flat tests to evaluate the location, morphology and chemistry of the tribofilms formed at the interface of alumina abrasive pin and cast iron workpiece. Tribological test results showed a significant reduction in the coefficient of friction values and decrease in aggressive wear tracks.
