A novel all electronic technique for phase locking fiber arrays will be presented. Coherent beam combining is a potential technique for achieving high power near diffraction-limited output from fiber lasers. Recently, coherent beam combining has been explored using optical self-organized techniques and active electronic phase locking. We present a novel RF phase locking method where each leg of the fiber array is phase modulated at a separate RF frequency. We will present the results of both 2 and 5 element array-locking experiments. In our approach, a separate RF frequency is used to modulate the phase of each fiber leg. The use of a separate RF frequency and analog phase detection allows us to simply separate the electronic signals in the RF frequency domain instead of using the more difficult spatial separation of optical signals required by other approaches.
