Recently it has become a common practice to construct 3Drncoreflooding simulation model to interpret water displacementrnexperiments conducted under X-ray CT scanning. Thernunknown grid block parameters i.e. kro/krw and Pc curves arernrequired to be optimized to get reasonable matching withrnexperimental data such as changes of grid block waterrnsaturation. In order to evaluate the matching processrnefficiently a new automated history-matching program hasrnbeen developed. This program applies Genetic Algorithm tornoptimize several coefficients for normalized kro/krw and Pcrncurves for each litho-facies.rnSeveral blind tests were carried out on hypotheticalrncoreflooding models by changing the conditions of velocityrnand wettability to investigate the degree of accuracy andrnlimitation of the program. The result of the reproducibility ofrnthe relative permeabilities was excellent for both water-wetrnand oil-wet cases regardless the velocity of coreflooding. Onrnthe other hand, the degree of reproducibility was notrnnecessarily satisfactory for capillary pressure curves especiallyrnin high velocity case.rnSensitivity of the controlling parameter in Genetic Algorithmrnsuch as crossover rate and mutation ratio was alsorninvestigated. The suitable values are estimated, though nornsimple trend was found.rnThe program was finally applied to the interpretation of actualrnwater displacement tests on oil-wet carbonate cores. Thernprogram successfully gave a reasonable set of kro/krw and Pcrncurves for each litho-facies and demonstrated its capability ofrngrid block parameter optimization.
