A systematic evaluation of the Medina Group in ChautauquarnCounty, New York was performed in 1998 to identifyrnproduction and reserve improvement opportunities in thisrnlarge, continuous, low permeability gas accumulation.rnPetrophysical analysis, geological mapping and advancedrnproduction type curve analysis was performed over a 200 wellrnstudy area covering 38,000 acres. Net pay, net sand andrnhydrocarbon pore-feet was determined from the log analysis.rnStructure, isopach, pay thickness, gas in place, permeabilityrnand well drainage areas were mapped.rnSeveral infill/stepout locations were identified based onrngeologic parameter mapping and four new wells were drilledrnin the fall of 1998. Medina pay was encountered in agreementrnwith the geologic prognosis for the wells. However, porernpressure was below original conditions indicating partialrndepletion at the new locations. Weekly production data wasrncollected from the new wells for a six month period andrndecline curve analysis performed to estimate recovery.
