摘要

Metallocene catalyzed polypropylene (mPP) has been available commercially, albeit in limited grades and quantities, for the last decade. Basell first commercialized mPP in 1997 (in Europe) and these resins are now also manufactured in the USA and available globally under the trade names of Metocene, Clyrell and Purell. Historically, mPP resins have been available primarily as higher MFR products for injection molding and fiber applications. Recently, Basell has introduced lower MFR mPP resins suitable for cast film applications. The current mPP product offering for cast film applications include both homopolymer and copolymer resins. These new resins, and their unique properties, are ideal candidates for the highly diversified and sophisticated North American cast film market. Each of these resins, when converted into film, offers its' own particular unique set of performance parameters including, but certainly not limited to, enhanced optical properties, film sealability and low volatiles, all of which are desirable properties for film structures. These metallocene catalyzed propylene-based resins compliment Basell's existing product portfolio by offering products with enhanced processing and performance advantages attributed to a better controlled polymer structure and molecular weight distribution.
