摘要

The strippable insulation shield application in power cables requires that two polyethylene-based polymer layers remain separable after co-extrusion and crosslinking to facilitate the installation of cable splices and terminations. A highly short-chain branched poly (α-olefin) has been selected as an adhesion-control additive to yield a low interfacial energy and to potentially reduce crosslinking at the interface. The strip-reduction effect can be magnified by reactive compounding to reduce the molecular weight of the branched polymer. This approach to impact adhesion between crosslinked layers is a distinct departure from traditional technology in this application.
