The paper presents numerical results of confined flow of bulk solids in an axisymmetric silo with inserts. Attention is paid to predict the flow patterns and pressures exerted on the walls. A non-linear dynamic analysis was performed with the aid of a finite element method using the so-called Arbitrary Lagrangian-Eulerian (ALE) approach. The behaviour of sand was described with a simple elasto-plastic constitutive model with a Drucker-Prager yield condition. The calculations were performed for two different insert types and their different shapes and positions.
