The initial impression to a structural engineer is that the box-like cast-in-place concrete structures of Tadao Ando’s designs are relatively simple to engineer and detail. Upon learning of the high performance expectations for the project, the limited space allowed for the structural elements, and the precision of the concrete details, this project was anything but ordinary. The success of the Pulizer Foundation for Arts facility required dedication, communication, and collaboration by all team members.
