The Four Seasons Residences is a multi-use building due to open in Fall 2001. The building's thirty-seven floors and five basement levels house more than a million square feet of hotel guestrooms and condominiums with supporting parking, retail, and sports club facilities. The building is the tallest structural steel building in California designed after the 1994 Northridge Earthquake. This paper includes a description of the design process, structural systems, design philosophy and innovations used for this highly complex building structure. The wind analysis is also described, focusing on the design and installation of the wind dampers.
