摘要

The Steel Fortress has been developed after extensive research at the Centre for Cement and Concrete of the University of Sheffield as punching shear reinforcement for flat slabs. It is easy to install, economic, it anchors effectively and it leads to ductile behavior. Tests were carried out in several Phases on RC slabs subjected to 8 point loads equidistant from the column. Further testing was done during the certification stage. The results showed that with the Steel Fortress it is possible to change the mode of failure to a ductile flexural mode. The paper presents experimental and analytical work that was undertaken as part of the research and development work that led to this invention.
