Elastic stability of annular plates under uniform forces applied at both edges is considered. If the circumferencial stresses are compressive and great enough non-axisymmetric buckling is observed. The buckling loads can be increased by applying a rigid circular support to the plate. The location of support for which the buckling load is maximal is regarded as optimal.
