Composite columns are used extensively in modern buildings. Concrete in-filled steel tubular columns have become more popular in recent years throughout the world as they offer a number of advantages and have been used in a variety of applications. This paper presents, the state of art of post buckling strength of composite columns and the results obtained from a few experimental investigations carried out. The effect of eccentricity ratio on the ultimate strength of in filled steel box columns and the strength of the in-fills on the behavior of these sections were studied. The post buckling strength of composite columns depends on the slenderness ratio of the column, end conditions of the column, thickness of the steel box sections and the materials used as in-fills. An effort has been made to study the post buckling behavior of steel fiber reinforced concrete (SFRC) in-filled composite columns with specific grade of concrete and specific type and amount of steel fibers and the results obtained are compared with columns without infill and columns with plain concrete in-fill, under axial and uni-axial eccentric compiessive loadings. The results obtained are presented.rnThese test results demonstrate the influence of fibers on the strength and behavior of concrete in-filled composite steel box columns.
