摘要

In 1989, the Structural Stability Research Council (SSRC) formed TG-29, "Second-Order Inelastic Analysis for Frame Design," which held its first meeting in 1990. The scope of the task group was "to investigate the use of various methods of second-order inelastic analysis and their incorporation into computer aided design procedures for proportioning steel-frame members and connections. Implications of various types of second-order inelastic analysis with respect to limit states specifications and code provisions will be identified." In 1992, the task group organized a workshop on "Plastic Hinge Based Methods for Advanced Analysis and Design of Steel Frames", culminating in a book of the same title published in 1993 by SSRC. Since that time, innumerous papers have been written and studies have been performed on the use of advanced analysis for design (e.g. references 4-6, 9-12,17-20,22).
