摘要

The recent development of tropicalized varieties of sugar beet has made possible to grow sugar beet crop in tropical and sub tropical areas. Sugar beet crop is also useful in bringing the high saline land into cultivation owing to its high tolerance characteristics to saline. To tap this huge potential and make sugar beet crop as supplementary crop to cane to increase season duration thereby raising the slump economic condition of sick sugar factories, the idea of pilot project has come forward.The pilot plant of 100 TBD capacity is setup at Samarth SSK Ltd., (M.S.) to establish technique of crop cultivation on moderate scale and to develop Indigenous juice extraction system to process it along-with cane juice or alternatively for ethanol production. This paper contains development, establishment and working results of 100 TBD Sugar Beet Pilot Plant.
