摘要

A Study was undertaken to estimate fluoride content in the groundwater in certain Talukas of Yawatrnal District in Maharashtra. A Total of 47 drirxking water samples in the study area were assessed for fluoride contamination along with other chemical parameters. Result indicates elevated concentration of fluoride in groundwater. The Highest concentration is found to be 9.391 ppm. Geological basis for the high concentration of fluoride has been established, it is presumed to be the present of volcanic rocks e.g. Basalt, Basalt is dominant in the studied area. Dental fluorisis and in some part skeletal fluorisis has been observed in the population exposed to drinking water of high fluoride content.
